Our Mission
"Building houses in partnership with God's people in need"
Habitat for Humanity Overview
Habitat for Humanity International is a non-profit, ecumenical, Christian-based organization that uses volunteer labor to build low cost homes in partnership with those in need around the world. It was founded in Americus, Georgia in 1976 by Millard Fuller and his wife, Linda. Habitat’s most famous volunteers are former President Jimmy Carter and his wife Rosalynn. Habitat has built more than 160,000 homes in the United States and in 100 other nations. There are more than 1,700 local affiliates of Habitat in the United States. Habitat’s simple, affordable homes have no-interest mortgages and minimum closing cost requirements. Mortgage money from homeowners is recycled back into building more Habitat homes. |
